The film is bereft of optimism. In a world filled with depressing stories this film adds its own poison. It is praised mainly by those well-fed and prosperous people who need to be boost their egos by comparing their status to the misery of others. For good mental health I would recommend humour .This has been called a"cult" movie. I have found cultists to be intolerant , malicious people who believe they have superior intelligence because they understand the cult message

I'm not the first person here to be frustrated by your overwhelming negativity. Even when you praise something, you manage to do it by criticizing something else. Ever read your own posts?
Try a more positive approach, and people will respond in kind.

Seriously, jack, why do you think your posts here result in such mayhem? That doesn't seem to happen to anyone else. What's your theory?
And again, I have no malice for you. Actually, I'm concerned for you...though I suppose you'll find that offensive as well.

So, ok..

Watching euphemeral films on the Prelinger archive can be considered cult films too right? because while most of the population hardly gives them a second look, there are those of us.. including you, that think these films are great, right??? So then you are cult film fan, since you are supporting the prelinger archives.

I won't go as far as calling you malicious and intolerant, though. Because I am not a name caller :)

Bill

Spuzz..my post referred to only ONE movie, viz "Night of......". Your attempt to associate my remarks on that film to other films (Prelinger Archives )is dishonest. I NEVER rubbished people having minority interests and your attempt to tag me with label is pitiful. Your last remark that you will not call me intolerant or malicious is stupid .

Ah, no... Let's see what you actually said..

This has been called a"cult" movie. I have found cultists to be intolerant , malicious people who believe they have superior intelligence because they understand the cult message "

You did NOT specify just this one movie, you lumped the cult film people TOGETHER. Don't twist your words around. I am quite sure that if you took a poll, the watching of euphemeral films would be considered a "cult" film thing to do, or, in your words, "a minority interest".

Spuzz.. you have not appreciated that the 1900 films cover such diverse subjects that the idea of giving cult status to viewers is totally absurd. It is different when considering hollywood films such as the Brando, Dean or "Night of..." where some viewers adopt the philosophy of the films and it is often said that these are cult films. I think that YOU know all of this and can only guess at your motives .Enough is enough..

I am not alone...

From Stay Free Magazine, an interview with Rick Prelinger..
http://www.stayfreemagazine.org/archives/20/prelinger.html

"..Take my archives as an example. My movies have always had a certain cult following but I could have never predicted we'd get over a million films downloaded in a little over a year."

C'mon Cashel, give me more accusations!

Mr Prelinger says that the movies had "always had a certain cult following". So what? this has nothing to do with my original post critically discussing the film"Night of...". SPUZZ you are spamming again and it is nasty habit. These Forums are intended as a place for friendly discussion

I know what " trolling " is and I never troll. Nor do I make personal malice attacks on forum members. However when I am attacked, I defend myself.

You began your comments on "Night ..." with a critical review of the film. However, your remarks continued, not reviewing the film but the people that like the film.

I found these remarks that you made to be intentionally inflammatory and insulting, ie trolling:

-It is praised mainly by those well-fed and prosperous people who need to be boost their egos by comparing their status to the misery of others.

-I have found cultists to be intolerant , malicious people who believe they have superior intelligence because they understand the cult message

No one has attacked you for critical remarks about films. You have been attacked for the intentionally insulting remarks about people that like them. I think that if you reread your original remarks from the perspective of someone that likes the film and does not agree with your analysis of it, you would understand why they could be considered "trolling" or to use your term "intolerant".

AKB so you tell me that if I say anything nasty about the above people I deserve all the insults and smears from people like you and spuzz and trafalgar.; I remember you from the past so I will not waste any more time with you or your ilk. NOTE TO OTHERS I did NOT smear or insult any races, religions or politics.
